Philip Connaughton is an acclaimed Dublin-based choreographer known for blending creativity, collaboration, and artistic innovation. After training locally, he honed his craft at the prestigious Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance in London. Philip has held notable positions such as artist in residence at axis:Ballymun, associate artist of Dance Ireland, Platform 31 Artist for Dublin City Council, and was a Next Generation Artist for the Arts Council of Ireland in its inaugural year. He is currently an associate artist at Project Arts Centre and a company artist with THISISPOPBABY.

In 2014, Philip founded Company Philip Connaughton, debuting the large-scale ensemble piece Tardigrade, which received the Best Design award at the Tiger Dublin Fringe Awards. Since then, he has remained active, developing a diverse range of projects and collaborations that reflect his evolving artistic vision. In 2023, he premiered TROJANS at the Cork Midsummer Festival, enjoying a successful sold-out run. His 2022 work Party Scene, created in collaboration with Phillip McMahon and THISISPOPBABY, had a successful run at Project Arts Centre, Dublin, followed by performances at Edinburgh Fringe, and in 2024 at Pumpenhaus Germany, and a sold-out Irish tour. He has just choreographed Carousel: A Concert at Melbourne's Princess Theatre for Enda Markey Presents.

Earlier in 2022, Philip created No Control for Carlow Arts Festival and choreographed and performed in THISISPOPBABY’s smash-hit arena show, WAKE, capping off the year with his creation Love Songs for Project Arts Centre and Cork Opera House. In 2019, his company presented Mamafesta Memorialising at KLAP, maison pour la danse in Marseille, with subsequent performances in Dublin and Cork.

His critically acclaimed work ASSISTED SOLO was developed for the Dublin Fringe Festival in 2018. In 2017, Extraterrestrial Events premiered at Regard du Cygne in Paris before being showcased at Dublin Dance Festival. His 2015 collaboration with Compagnie Kashyl, Whack!!, toured extensively throughout France and Ireland.

In addition to dance, Philip has been actively involved in theatre, opera, and visual art. He collaborated with visual artist Marie Brett on Yes, but do You Care? (2020/21), a powerful project dealing with legislation around carers and the right to choose- now part of the IMMA national collection. Their most recent collaboration, Well, Well, Well?, is currently on exhibition at Siamsa Tíre for the month of October, further showcasing the dynamic blend of their artistic visions.

Other theatre credits include The Threepenny Opera and The Vortex (The Gate Theatre), Der Vampyr and Faust (The Everyman Theatre), as well as Elevator, I'm Your Man, RIOT, and SHIT (THISISPOPBABY). Additional credits include Annie, The Wizard of Oz, and The Cork Proms (Cork Opera House), along with This is the Funeral of Your Life (Louise White) and Gold in the Water (Shane O’Reilly). His work on Much Ado About Nothing for Rough Magic at Kilkenny Arts Festival was recognized with an Irish Times Theatre Award. He is currently working on On the Waterfront with Vanessa Fielding for The Complex and Emma with Claire O’Reilly for The Abbey Theatre.

Company Philip Connaughton is supported by the Arts Council of Ireland and produced by Once Off Productions.
